Graham Landin – PAINTING200 – Thursday February 9

Black & Yellow Gallery is pleased to present PAINTING200, a solo exhibition by Graham Landin. Mediating between an epidemic of fluctuating shapes and contingent forms, Vancouver based artist Graham Landin executes a new body of work that posits the idiosyncrasy of human desire to improve oneself. Landin examines the relationship one has with familiar imagery that has been reprocessed and manipulated digitally, often involving such processes to imitate his own premeditated compositions.
The plurality of his works presents an innate sense of urgency that undermines its own monumentalization. Borrowing references from internet memes and the signs we experience daily, PAINTING200: actualizes a discursive visual dialect that amalgamates a poetic humor driven by both the internet’s unique semiotic language and the individual that exists outside of it.
Born in 1982, Graham Landin has lived and worked in various locations across North America. He currently resides in Vancouver where he is working on his bachelor’s degree at Emily Carr University.
Opening starts at 7pm
