Top 10 Moments of 2011 at the Waldorf

We had an amazing year at the Waldorf and we hope you did too. 2012 is shaping up to be a big one and we can’t wait to share what we have in store for you.
Here are our favourite moments of 2011…

Berlin-based artist Dida Zenda built us an art gallery out of shipping container.

The Waldorf was festival central. Aside from The New Forms Festival, we also hosted Music Waste, Olio Festival and Wyrd Fest.

The biggest pop star in the world visited our weekly sock-hop.

We threw the strangest and funnest parties. Such as our Beach Parties, Eurobeat, The History of Dance and The Saddest Party In The World.

You saw them here first! Live performances from the likes of Salem, Hunx and His Punx, Kurt Vile, Keep Shelly in Athens and so many more.

Paul Wong’s Unplugged installation, monthly openings at the Black and Yellow Gallery and a contemporary art fair all happened in our hotel rooms.

Big DJs. Small Club. Intimate performances by some of the biggest names in dance music like Skrillex, Cut Copy, Thievery Corporation’s Rob Garza, Fred Falke and Metro Area.

We turned our parking lot into a rad outdoor venue and hosted the Jamcouver skateboarding competition, the final day of New Forms Festival and the Iceage outdoor concert.

Douglas Coupland took over the Waldorf (and our marquee) for his Coupland – McLuhan – YouTube interactive presentation.

Our Halloween party had 16 storeys of fun and so much more. We threw a massive four-day property wide party. The event included top party DJs and entertainers: DJ Lady Miss Kier from Deee-lite, House of La Douche, Peter Breeze, The Fly Grrrls, The Vampire Bats, Maria in The Shower, Tyler Fedchuk , Cam Dales, Trevor Risk and so many more. The event also featured a haunted house in our hotel rooms, a classic carnival midway designed by some of Vancouver’s most inspiring artists, an Erotic Holographic Theatre designed by Thomas Anselmi and an age old Día de los Muertos dinner ceremony hosted by Ernesto Gomez.
