Hello my name is…
George Vergette.
At the Waldorf I…
Enjoy drinking, eating, listening to music and watching Steve Da Cruz open up lost rooms at the Waldorf.
When I’m not at the Waldorf I am…
in my studio in East Van making art.
My favourite things about Vancouver are…
my friends here are pretty amazing, my wife and Dr. Barnes, along with the plentiful sushi that we might eat as well, Japadog, Chambar, Nuba, Meat and Bread, come on. The bands here are also pretty incredible. Good times would be Black Mountain, Japandroids, Shaddow and The Stunt Man, The Pack AD, Pink Mountaintops (I know) and Graeme’s band as well – come on do a show already. It’s also beautiful here.
My favourite Vancouver musician is…
I think I just covered this a bit, but let’s say Death Sentence.
The last book I read was…
Painting Below Zero by James Rosenquist. It’s about Rosenquist by Rosenquist: his story from his point of view. It’s pretty amazing to read about what all the pop and pre-pop artists went through. How tough it was for them but they just loved making art so much it didn’t matter that there was no money in it.
My spirit animal is…
a dachshund.
My dream Jeopardy category is…
Resin.
I never leave home without…
I really don’t like carrying much so I’m pretty happy that iPhones have all you need in them: camera, notes, web, email. Also a small moleskine and a HB staedtler pencil.
If you’re buying drinks, I will have…
you’re buying drinks then enough said, I’m pretty easy.
