Egyptian Lover – Saturday February 18

Join us Saturday February 18 for a very special Cherchez & Co headlined by none other than Egyptian Lover. Egyptian Lover is the West Coast Godfather of Electro and one of the best known performers of the underground West Coast dance scene. As one of the most innovative producers of the old-school/electro era, he recorded a parade of singles during the mid-’80s that proved influential for decades. Comparable in influence to Soul Sonic Force’s “Planet Rock”, Man Parrish’s “Hip-Hop Be Bop (Don’t Stop)” and Pretty Tony’s “Jam the Box”, Egyptian Lover singles such as “Egypt, Egypt“, “My Beat Goes Boom“, “Dance” and “What is a DJ If He Can’t Scratch?” combined the abstract electronics of Kraftwerk and the Art of Noise with the emerging beat-heavy sound of electro and the vocal approach of rap.
Doors at 10pm
