Floozy’s Burlesque- Thursday July 7

Throughout history, Burlesque has gone through many incarnations from the illustrious grand theatre shows of Burlesque’s Golden era to the modern day avante garde interpretations of the current revival. Floozy’s Burlesque, a monthly 1950′s style Burlesque Lounge is situated in the exotic surroundings of the legendary Waldorf Hotel. The night will hearken back to the saucier era of Burlesque when the Burlesque theatre and orchestra were replaced by nightclubs and raunchier rock n’ roll bands. Acts began to showcase increasing amounts of nudity, hokey gimmicks and risque bump and grind dance moves all introduced by a suggestive host who’s jokes were so bad they were good! Floozy’s Burlesque will showcase the best in international and local Burlesque artists. With a focus on audience participation, a cash prize will be given for the winner of a limbo contest and patrons will be able to spin a wheel to get the best table in the house! Beware, that table will put you in the hot seat in more ways than one! Curated by Chaz Royal the ‘King of Burlesque’ and Cecilia Bravo, Vancouver’s founder of Neo Burlesque, Floozy’s Burlesque will soon prove to be the hottest ticket in town. Not to be missed!
